“Mental health as a student athlete is something I had been trying to manage by myself for years. Softball is almost as much a mental game as it is physical, so finding a good outlet was important for me to remain successful in my collegiate years. I sought help from David starting my sophomore year and I now find myself in his office every week. Not only was I learning ways to improve my mental game and mental health during the season, having someone like David who will listen to all my stress and worries was like a weight lifted off my shoulders. As a current senior, I can see how much my mental game has improved in softball, and even find myself using some techniques I learned in my everyday life as well. I have learned how to reframe the negative and unproductive thoughts almost every athlete experiences to positive, reaffirming ones that keep me focused at the plate. In a game like baseball/softball, when failing 7 out of 10 times can still get you to the big leagues, remaining mentally strong is so incredibly important to avoid burning out. I can see all the ways David has helped me keep loving the game despite the outcome. I would recommend his services to anyone, struggling or not, if you want to improve your mental health and success in your sport!”
